CLUBLINKS APPOINTED TO MANAGE DAREBIN’S NEW NORTHCOTE AQUATIC AND RECREATION CENTRE

Darebin’s community will be welcomed into the redeveloped Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre (NARC) through the appointment of community partnerships-focused manager, Clublinks Management Pty Ltd.

Darebin City Council has appointed Clublinks as operator of the centre for an initial contract period of just over 3 years, commencing on 20 March 2023 with further options to extend.

Clublinks were chosen through a competitive tender process, as an experienced and highly regarded organisation, with innovative and inclusive programming and activities to support diverse groups from across the community to get involved at the centre.

Darebin Mayor Councillor Julie Williams said the contract helps support the health and wellbeing of the entire community through inclusive programs at the newly redeveloped, state-of-the-art centre.

“The Social and Sustainable Procurement outcomes and benefits to the local Darebin community proposed within their submission are a testament to the value Clublinks places on supporting local. This includes a commitment to ensure employment opportunities are reflective of the community,” Mayor Williams said.

Clublinks CEO Anthony Lawrence said the facility held tremendous potential and is excited by the opportunity to build on the facility offerings further through activities and events that will attract people from all over the community.

“The Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre will embody a true community hub, in which all members of the community feel welcomed,” Lawrence said.

Northcote Aquatic Recreation Centre is being redeveloped as it had reached its end-of-life. The new facility, which aims to meet the needs of Darebin’s growing and diverse community, has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star rating – Design Review, reflecting ‘world leadership’ level in sustainable design.

It will host indoor and outdoor pools as well as increased opportunities to participate in health and wellbeing activities, through larger and additional programming spaces and an added warm water pool for exercise and rehabilitation. Designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects Australia and built by Kane Construction Pty Ltd, the new facility is expected to be completed in 2023.

Clublinks also manage other Council facilities including; Narrandjeri Stadium, Darebin Community Sports Stadium, Bundoora Park Public Golf Course and Northcote Public Golf Course.
